A secret Garden Escape
Nestled by the serene main lake in Pukekura Park, The Teahouse has been a cherished part of New Plymouth’s history since it first opened its doors on November 14th, 1931. This iconic building was a generous gift from Mr. and Mrs. C.H. Burgess, the former mayor and mayoress of New Plymouth, in celebration of their golden wedding anniversary.

Over the decades, The Teahouse has become a beloved destination for both locals and visitors alike. Guests come to enjoy a warm cup of tea or coffee while soaking in the picturesque surroundings of the park’s lush greenery and tranquil waters. Whether you are exploring New Plymouth or simply seeking a peaceful spot to relax, The Tea House offers a unique blend of history, charm, and natural beauty.
Under new ownership, Marnie & Simon Johnston-Saywell welcome you to come and be part of this new chapter of The Teahouse's history.
